The band had only released a self-titled album in 1973 before changing their name to Shooter Review with the Murphy Sisters trio and changing their style to '40s and '50s popular music. By 1975, the name was just Shooter the group released several popular singles in the mid-'70s, including I Can Dance Long Tall Glasses, Train and Hard Times. They were most noted for receiving a Juno Award nomination for Most Promising New Group at the Juno Awards of 1975. The band, which initially tried to market itself as a Canadian version of Sha Na Na, consisted of vocalist Duncan White, keyboardist Ray Harrison, saxophonist Wayne Mills, guitarist John Bride and drummer Tommy Frew.
