My favorite Metallica album. Sounds great, the 45RPM treatment is excellent!
ZEr0
Usually they used DAT tapes at that time (Digital Audio Tape).
Dead Samurai
I don't get it. The wrapper states the vinyl was mastered from the original tapes. Why in the world would they record their new album on tape in 1996? Everything went digital by that time.
Unereel
Even artists that recorded digitally in the 90’s used tape it was dat digital tape.this was before pro tools
Efmprof
Some artists did record on analog equipment back in the 90's. Even Iron Maiden recorded their 2003 album Dance of Death on analog equipment! Every artist is different, some prefer analog, and some prefer digital recording. Metallica went their way to record this album in 1996.
Felolune
They were still recording to tape in 1996...a lot of bands were.
Fearlessrunner
Sounds awesome! A must own for any Metallica fan. 45rpm series is worth the extra money imo
