The title of this 1980 album seems to be a partial punch at the folks who might have thought their previous breakthrough album was going to be the start of an ongoing movement into radio-friendly territory, and likely a solid sock to all the candy-ass chicken rock of this era. (It's also a great title for a rock 'n roll album) The set seems to be a return to the no-nonsense power of their 1977 Love Transfusion album. Two Pointer Sisters add background vocals to a cover of Lou Reed's "Sally Can't Dance," and Lee Michaels offers organ to that cut and a few others, but if the 1979 album swerved slightly, this jumps right back on the two-lane blacktop. "Takin' it Back" sounds a lot like the enjoyable "Turn Up the Radio" from the previous album but the punch and Chuck Berry is more intact here, Little Richard as well. It’s perhaps the best song they offered. If 1977's "Love Transfusion" had you grinning, but you lost some of that grin at times in 1979, this will likely find you cheesing from chin to chin.

The band offers Tommy Talton's "Restless" (a Cowboy song?) and the Lou Reed song on the first side, while side two sticks with the originals--which of course show many influences, Little Richard throughout, and Del Shannon on "Sad Songs." The set concludes with a couple of bluesy numbers, the last one "Troublemaker" the better of the two, the song slinking into the conclusion. This was clearly one of this band's more essential outings.
